Adopt a Thoroughbred PDF  | Print |

The SC TRF encourages horse lovers in South Carolina and all over to adopt a Thoroughbred from Seabiscuit Stables and make him your own.

Whether for pleasure riding, hunting and jumping or priceless companionship, a retired racehorse is a wonderful addition to a loving family and a happy home.

If you find after adopting a Thoroughbred from SC TRF that for any reason you wish to return him, we will be glad to welcome him back. It’s that easy. All we’re interested in is assuring a good fit for the Thoroughbred in his second career and that he lives out his days healthy and happy.

I have always loved Thoroughbreds. Over the years, I have owned two wonderful Thoroughbreds, Are U Sincere, at Sally Hill Farm in Fayetteville, NC, and Fuzzy Lad at Windfall Farm in South Carolina, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to  learn of the TRF Seabiscuit Stables at Wateree Correctional Facility.

My heartfelt thanks goes to everyone at the TRF Camden Facility who helped me find my new best buddy, Ice Man Cometh. Through the TRF I tried two other horses, but unfortunately they just did not work out. I was just about to give up , but Page was determined to find me a horse.Well she did. She emailed me a list of names of the new horses that had recently arrived at Wateree and and Ice Man Cometh was the first on the list. I knew as soon as i saw him that he was the one and that he was special. With a tremendous amount of help from Sara Dill and her dad, Jim Wooldridge, at Timber Creek Farm, Dante (his new name) and I are well on our way to becoming a good Hunter Jumper team. Sara is a great trainer, very knowledgeable and Dante (Ice Man Cometh) is in a wonderful place at Timber Creek Farm. He is enjoying his tranquil farm and he seems eager to continue his training for his new career as a Hunter Jumper. We hope to go to a few shows to see what we can accomplish, but his first love seems to be the trails.

Thanks again to everyone who helped bring this special horse into my life. Keep up the great work for these wonderful horses!
