We encourage you to consider adopting a Thoroughbred from SC TRF and learn just what an amazing partner one of these equine athletes can become.
We want to help you find the perfect horse for your needs. Whether you train your Thoroughbred for hunting and jumping, eventing, trail riding, or just want a loving companion, you’ll be amazed at how quickly they adapt and learn.
The adoption application will help identify your “ideal” horse, as well as your horsemanship skills and experience. Above all, we encourage you to make a personal visit to the farm to view and meet our adoptable horses. Because the farm is located on correctional institution grounds, an appointment is necessary.
The adoption process is simple. Adopters must be able to provide proper care and maintenance, including year-round shelter, free access to water, proper feed, and health/veterinary care. Horses adopted from the SC TRF may not be sold, raced, bred, or disposed of. Please read our placement agreement and adoption application carefully.
Because we recognize that not all adoptions are a perfect match, if for any reason you wish to return the horse you adopted, we will be glad to welcome him back. Our one wish is to ensure each of our horses finds a great second career or home and lives out his days happy and healthy.
For more information on adopting from TRFSC, contact William Cox by mail, email or phone: PO Box 2248, Camden, SC 29020, WCox@thesavagefirm.com or 803-243-0034.
Please be aware that SC-TRF is located on the Wateree Correctional Facility grounds; therefore, appointments are required.
